November 2012

November has all the ingredients needed to create a thrilling month, with just the right mix to keep you on your toes but also to add the kind of diversity that we haven’t had so far. With a total solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse, Mars and Pluto, the planets of war and revolution meeting up for only the third time in Capricorn, in our lifetime and the old finally making way for the new, it’s a month that I can’t wait to get started.

In terms of the old making way for the new I’m talking about the last vestige of the Libran energy that has dominated our charts and lives for so long finally playing out and the consequences that will have.

Since Saturn first returned to Libra in October 2009 until he left on the 6th October 2012 his was a challenging era, mainly because of the bad aspect this put him to Uranus, over in opposing sign Aries and to Pluto, at a square aspect to Pluto in Capricorn. This is the ‘cardinal T square’ that gave Astrologers the heebee jeebees over recent years and created so much tension. While Saturn himself had moved on and was no longer interacting directly with Uranus and Pluto, until early last month they were still at odds, keeping the pressure up and creating a level of anxiety. Take Saturn out of the mix and this standoff between Uranus and Pluto, which will repeat several times over the coming years, loses a lot of its steam and its punch, to a point where in the future it’s unlikely to have the same sting and is more likely to motivate us.

Saturn, Mars, the Sun and Mercury have all moved through Libra and the Libra ruled area of your chart over recent months and all moved into opposition with Uranus over in Aries and the same tough aspect to Pluto in Capricorn, keeping the tension high. To a point where we’re more than ready for all the planetary in Libra to clear out, but the message from Venus is ‘not so fast’.

Venus returned to Libra late last month and won’t leave until the 22nd November, working until then to extract the positives, find the silver lining and after all the hard work, to reap the rewards. Venus reminds me a little of the Sleeping Beauty tale, when the wicked fairy godmother curses Sleeping Beauty to prick her finger on a spindle when she’s 18 and fall down dead. However, unbeknownst to the wicked fairy godmother there was one fairy godmother overlooked, who hadn’t granted her spell on the baby and while she couldn’t undo the curse or stop the fact that Sleeping Beauty would prick her finger on a spindle she could alter the outcome, making her wish that instead of dying the whole castle would fall asleep, to be awoken by love’s true kiss.

Venus is that fairy godmother and while she can’t change the challenges you’ve been through she can alter the ultimate outcomes. As the last planet to move through Libra for the year it’s your heart, the desires and expectations Venus evokes and the laws of attraction she triggers that have the final say. This allows you to turn the challenges of the past into the building blocks and foundations for the future and to turn all that you’ve been through into a new sense of resolve, giving you the wisdom, experience and power to move mountains if you have to.

When Venus leaves Libra on the 22nd November this will be the last of any link to Saturn’s era gone, allowing us to finally put a very challenging Saturn era behind us. Before then Venus has to run the same gauntlet that the other planets that moved through faced, which is an opposition with Uranus on the 2nd November and a difficult aspect to Pluto on the 4th November. This will be over and done with early in the month and because Venus is here to ensure that you benefit as much as possible from the challenges of the past, this is likely to see any tension very quickly turn into motivation, a sense of determination and some very firm stands.

While Venus is the last vestige of an old era a new era is already underway and it’s nothing like the old era. What made Saturn’s journey through Libra so challenging was the tough aspects he formed to the other planets, namely Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn. When Saturn returned to Scorpio on the 6th October he immediately moved into a positive aspect to Neptune in Pisces and this month will move into the same positive aspect to Chiron. This creates a strong bond between forces in Scorpio and Pisces, fellow Water signs, that will remain strong for the remainder of Saturn’s time here. Where in Libra Saturn’s visit was dominated by challenges, here in Scorpio his stay here until 2015 will be dominated by opportunities, with Chiron not leaving Pisces until 2019 and Neptune not leaving until 2026.

Your Individual Monthly Horoscope Reports and the Monthly Horoscopes will detail which areas of your chart are ruled by Scorpio and Pisces, for example for Geminis this is your work and career sectors, for Virgo your communication and relationship sectors, for Libra your income and work sectors and for Capricorns your communication and friendship sectors.

However, it’s not just from outside forces that Saturn and his new era in Scorpio is receiving so much support but from within as well. When Saturn returned last month it was just a day before Mars was due to leave and just a day after Mercury returned and since then while Mercury and Mars have moved on the Sun is still here and will be until the 22nd November. However, Saturn visits Scorpio once every 3 decades, having last been here from November 1982 to November 1985 and during that time will meet up with the Sun, Mercury and Venus each year and with Mars at least once. So having Mercury and Mars here when he returned last month and the Sun returning just a few weeks later, while the first time they’ve met up in 3 decades, in of itself is not unusual and what you would expect. What is unusual is to also have the North Node here, especially as it only visits Scorpio every 18 to 20 years, having last been here from February 1994 to July 1995.

What is so significant about having the North Node here, apart from the gravitational pull this creates towards the future, your destiny and your full potential, giving Saturn’s strength, determination and focus a clear and very obvious path, is that this sets the scene for a series of ellipses, which are game changers. It is said that eclipses bring things suddenly and unexpectedly to a head, opening unexpected new doors or even having the power to alter the course things are taking dramatically, however I think you have to have your head in the sand a little for them to really strike unexpectedly. For what an eclipse does is bring everything that the lunar nodes are working on behind the scenes to a head, fast tracking them, to a point where you may gain more momentum in a few days or weeks than you would normally achieve in years, but if you’re working with the North Node’s energy, which is naturally drawing things in that direction anyway and has been since the 30th August and will do until February 2014, then an eclipse shouldn’t take you too much by surprise.

But having Saturn and the North Node in any sign at the same time is always significant, for the North Node points the way and Saturn gives you the resilience, motivation and momentum to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes. Together you have the path and the means to make it happen.

While Saturn and the North Node will meet up in the same sign every 11 to 12 years, having last met up in Capricorn in 1990/1991, this is the first time that they have met up in Scorpio since 1956. In fact, over the last 200 years Saturn and the North Node have only met up here 4 times. The last time was in 1956, the time before that in 1865 and before that in 1807. It’s not only that it’s rare to have Saturn and the North Node together here in Scorpio, which at most is a first in a lifetime for those born after the 11th October 1956 and only the second time in a lifetime for those born prior to then, but how long they will be together here and the time they have to make this count.

To put this in perspective when Saturn and the North Node last met up in Capricorn they were together from the 19th November 1990 to the 7th February 1991, a period of just 11 ½ weeks. When Saturn and the North Node last met up in Scorpio it was for an incredibly brief time and they were only together for a week, from the 4th October to the 11th October 1956. This time around Saturn and the North Node have been together since the 6th October and will remain together in Scorpio until February 2014, over 16 months.

With the North Node providing a clear path, the element of fate and pull in the right direction and Saturn the power and determination to remain committed, giving everything you’ve got for as long as it takes, this creates an enormous amount of potential, the kind the Scorpio ruled area of your chart has never seen before.

And this is before taking into account the eclipses that are set to create the pivotal turning points that will line you up to what destiny has in store and you won’t have to wait long, for the first of these eclipses falls this month and it’s a doozy in the form of a total solar eclipse on the 14th November. With the Moon aligning with Saturn on the 13th November this will set things in motion and aligning with both the Sun and North Node on the day of the eclipse this will create a massive trigger, as well as the heaven’s most dazzling and spectacular display.

TAURUS (05 August US/Canada/UK/Europe - 06 August NZ/Australia)

Mars and Saturn, the powerhouse planets creating the momentum in your work sector, are now close enough that their energies are starting to combine. It’s Mars’ fighting spirit and Saturn’s discipline and focus that gives you the motivation to get things started and the tenacity to see things through. With Venus in her final days in your income sector motivation won’t be a problem, but it’s definitely time to start making things happen.

Monthly General

The overwhelming focus as you move into the month is on the work and income fronts, with Venus finally wrapping up her epic 4 month visit to your income sector on the 8th August, just as Mars and Saturn are coming together to really drive things home on the work front. It's in this atmosphere that this month's Full Moon will fall in your career sector, on the 2nd August. With Mars not leaving your work sector until the 24th August, Saturn stays on until October and lucky Jupiter remains in your income sector until June 2013, on both fronts this will remain a work in progress for some time. Yet as the month unfolds the extreme focus on your professional game and income situation will ease back, allowing life's diversity to take hold. With the Sun in your home and family sector until the 23rd August, Mercury in retrograde motion here until the 8th August, but not leaving until early next month and a New Moon on the 18th August, your home and family situation and matters will feature strongly this month, making it important to work on establishing the right work/life balance from the get go. It's towards the end of the month that your personal life finally gets some support, thanks to the Sun's return to your romantic sector on the 23rd August, Mars' return to your relationship sector on the 24th August and the North Node's return on the 30th August. With so much happening on the professional and personal fronts, the key to everything this month is balance.

Monthly Love

Mars' departure from your romantic sector on the 4th July has not only left you with no planetary activity on the romantic front, but with your relationship sector not usually active until October, no help there as well. At least that's how things stand at the start of the month and for the first 3 weeks you're basically on your own. Things start to change with the Moon's visit to your romantic sector, from the 18th August to the 20th August, giving you a taste of things to come, but it's during the Moon's visit to your relationship sector, from the 22nd August to the 24th August that everything changes. It's within the space of 24 hours that you'll go from having no support on either the romantic or relationship fronts, to having the love gods' full attention. It begins with the Sun's return to your romantic sector on the 23rd August, taking over from where Mars and his romantic passions leave off, while at the same time opening the door to a romantic chapter that will take until late October to run its course. It's just a day later that the most dramatic shift takes place, with Mars' return to your relationship sector not only opening the door to his own 6 week visit, but to a complete revamp of your relationships that will take until late 2014 to complete. The game changer is the North Node's return to your relationship sector on the 30th August, setting the scene for a series of eclipses, including a total solar eclipse in November. From this point fate will take the wheel.

Monthly Money

On both the income and financial front August is a month for setting your intentions and putting things on the track that you want them to continue on, for two very different reasons. On the 8th August Venus, planet of money, desire and attraction will finally leave your income sector, wrapping up an epic 4 month visit, her longest in 8 years. It's the desires, expectations and a sense of entitlement that Venus leaves you with that will keep Jupiter, planet of luck on track for the rest of this year and during the first half of 2013. Jupiter won't leave your income sector until the 26th June 2013, with the desires and expectations being cemented now determining much of what you'll achieve during that time. If Venus leaves you with a sense of wanting more and that you deserve more, then she's done her job, however it then becomes a work in progress that will take until mid 2013 to complete. The Moon's visit to your income sector from the 11th August to the 13th August, will give you a nose for money and clues on how to transition into a longer term focus. In the meantime, the lunar nodes are shifting at the end of the month, with the South Node leaving your income sector on the 30th August, on the same day that the North Node will leave your financial sector. This is why you've had a series of eclipses here over the last few years, but like a pair of trainer wheels on both the financial and income fronts they're about to be withdrawn, making it important to follow the natural current they're creating, allowing you to keep on track once they're gone.

Monthly Business

Since Saturn returned to your work sector in October 2009 there has been no such thing as a dead month on the professional front, with at least some activity in either your work or career sectors keeping things ticking over, but in comparison August is usually a fairly quiet month. The most active time on the career front is usually February/March and the most active time on the work front is usually October/November yet Mars, planet of passion, drive and ambition and the warrior planet of the cosmos is not bound by the same rules that the Sun, Mercury and Venus have to follow and visits wherever he wants, whenever he wants. Mars returned to your work sector last month and after a few teething problems are coming into his own this month. Mars is a planet of action and a planet that encourages you to put everything you have into everything you do, doing whatever it takes for as long as it takes. As Mars draws closer to an opposition with Saturn mid month, their last in your work sector for another 3 decades, Mars' fighting spirit will fuse with Saturn's endurance, giving you the power to move mountains if you have to. Even after Mars leaves your work sector on the 24th August, you'll have that fighting spirit and passion under your hood for months to come. What is likely to get the ball rolling in the early days of the month is a Full Moon in your income sector on the 2nd August, just 6 days before Venus is due to leave your income sector.
